Overview

Exporting product data lets you download your catalog for reporting, analysis, or migration.

You can export all products or apply filters to create targeted data sets in CSV or Excel (.xlsx) format.

💡 Why Product Exports Matter

Product exports enable data portability and cross-functional collaboration beyond MerchPIM.

Well-structured exports support:

  • Reporting and business intelligence dashboards
  • Migration to other platforms or backup archives
  • Bulk analysis in Excel, Google Sheets, or BI tools
  • Sharing product data with vendors, partners, or agencies
  • Auditing catalog quality and completeness at scale

Every export reflects your current catalog state and can be customized to include only the fields and products you need.

Steps

1️⃣ Go to Export

Navigate to Catalog → Import/Export and select the Export tab.

2️⃣ Choose Export Scope

Select which products to include in the export. Options include:

  • All Products
  • Filtered Products (based on category, status, tags, etc.)
  • Selected Products (manually chosen from the list)

Expected: Only relevant products are queued for export.

3️⃣ Select Fields

Choose which fields to include in the export.

You can export all fields or select specific ones like Title, SKU, Price, Description, Category, Tags, Images, or Custom Attributes.

Deselect unnecessary fields to keep the file smaller and focused.

4️⃣ Choose File Format

Select CSV or Excel (.xlsx).

  • CSV → Lightweight and universal
  • Excel → Supports formatting and multiple sheets

Expected: File type and format saved for current session.

5️⃣ Start Export

Click Export and let the system generate your file.

For large catalogs, this may take a few moments.

You’ll receive a download link or an email notification when the file is ready.

Expected: Progress indicator completes and download button appears.

6️⃣ Download and Review

Download the file and open it in Excel, Sheets, or your preferred BI tool.

Review the data to ensure all expected products and fields are included.

✅ Validate

After export, confirm that the file includes:

  • The correct product count
  • The selected fields
  • Proper data formatting (currency, date, and URLs)
  • Complete custom attributes and image URLs

Check for missing, truncated, or misaligned data before sharing or using the file.
