Overview
Bulk Edit allows you to efficiently update multiple products at once, saving time and maintaining data consistency across your catalog.
This feature is especially useful for global price changes, seasonal updates, or mass attribute adjustments.
💡 Why Bulk Edits Matter
Bulk editing helps teams maintain accuracy and speed when managing large catalogs. It enables:
- Faster updates across hundreds of SKUs
- Consistent data values (e.g., pricing, tags, categories)
- Reduced manual entry and user error
- Easier seasonal or promotional adjustments
- Centralized tracking of all batch updates
Every bulk action is logged, ensuring visibility and accountability across users.
⚙️ How Bulk Edits Work
Task | Example | Expected Result |
|---|---|---|
Update Price | Increase all “Summer Collection” items by 10% | Prices updated in one action |
Change Category | Move products to “Archived” | Category reflected in Shopify |
Add Tag | Add “Clearance” tag to selected SKUs | New tag applied to all chosen products |
Edit Attribute | Update “Material = Linen” for 50 SKUs | Attribute value synced across all |

Steps
1️⃣ Filter the Product List
Go to Catalog → Products and use filters to narrow down the list by Category, Status, Tags, or Attributes.
Expected: Only the relevant products appear in the results grid.
2️⃣ Select Products to Edit
Check the boxes next to the products you want to modify.
💡 Tip: Use the checkbox in the table header to select all visible products at once.
Expected: Selection count appears at the top of the page.
3️⃣ Open Bulk Edit Panel
Click Bulk Edit in the top toolbar.
Expected: A side or modal panel opens showing all editable fields.
4️⃣ Choose Fields to Update
Select the fields you want to modify (e.g., Price, Category, Tag, Attribute).
Enter the new values that should be applied to all selected items.
💡 Tip: Leave any field blank to keep its current value unchanged.
Expected: The preview pane shows which fields will be updated.
5️⃣ Review and Apply Changes
Review the summary in the preview pane to confirm:
- How many products will be affected
- Which fields and values will change
Click Apply Changes to execute the update.
Expected: Progress bar displays while edits are applied.
6️⃣ Monitor Progress
Watch the completion indicator as updates process.
When finished, a confirmation message appears.
Expected: All selected products are successfully updated.
✅ Validate
Confirm that updated fields display correctly on all affected products.
Check the Change History Log to verify timestamp, user, and action.
Ensure no unintended products were modified and review the Error Log for any items that failed to update.
🔧 Troubleshooting
Issue | Likely Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
Some products not updated | Missing edit permission | Request edit access or retry as Admin |
Wrong products modified | Incorrect filter selection | Undo or manually correct affected products |
Bulk edit failed | Server timeout / data conflict | Retry with smaller batch size |
Missing audit entry | User lacks logging permission | Enable “Track Changes” in permissions |
🌟 Best Practices
- Always preview bulk edits before applying.
- Use filters carefully to target the correct product subset.
- Keep batch sizes manageable (e.g., ≤ 500 items per update).
- Run a completeness check after large edits.
