Managing Product Translations in MerchPIM
How to Manage Multi-Language Catalogs the Shopify-Native Way

MerchPIM allows Shopify brands to manage product translations across multiple markets from one centralized workspace. Instead of editing translations product-by-product in Shopify, MerchPIM works directly with Shopify’s native translation system, enabling teams to translate, review, and publish localized product content more efficiently.
This approach ensures your catalog remains structured and consistent as you expand into international markets.
With MerchPIM, teams can manage translations for product titles, descriptions, and SEO fields across multiple languages without duplicating products or creating separate workflows.
Key Benefits
Using MerchPIM for translation management helps your team:
- Maintain consistent translations across all products
- Manage multiple languages from a single interface
- Prevent incomplete or inconsistent product localization
- Preview translated listings before publishing
- Scale international catalog management without breaking Shopify’s native structure
Supported Languages
MerchPIM supports translation workflows for up to 20 languages, fully aligned with Shopify Markets.
Translations remain compatible with Shopify’s native language system, ensuring:
- Proper storefront rendering
- Consistent product structure
- Accurate international SEO indexing
Before You Begin
Before managing translations in MerchPIM, confirm that:
- Your Shopify store has additional languages enabled
- Products exist in your primary language
- Your Shopify Markets configuration supports the target languages
Translations can then be added and managed directly within MerchPIM.
Step 1 — Open the Translation Workspace
- Log into MerchPIM
- Navigate to Product Management
- Select the product you want to translate
- Open the Language / Localization panel
You will see all available languages associated with your Shopify store.
Step 2 — Select the Target Language
Choose the language you want to manage.
For example:
- German
- French
- Spanish
- Arabic
MerchPIM will display editable fields for the selected language.
Step 3 — Translate Product Content
You can translate key product fields such as:
- Product title
- Product description
- Product features
- SEO title
- Meta description
Translations can be created in two ways:
Automatic translation
Quickly generate translations for multiple products when scaling internationally.
Manual editing
Refine translations to maintain brand tone and market-specific wording.
This flexibility allows teams to balance speed and accuracy when managing global catalogs.
Step 4 — Preview Translated Content
Before publishing translations, MerchPIM allows you to preview how the product will appear in the selected language.
Previewing helps your team:
- Identify formatting issues
- Catch translation errors
- Verify that titles and descriptions display correctly
This step reduces the risk of publishing incomplete or incorrect localized listings.
Step 5 — Publish Translations to Shopify
Once translations are finalized:
- Save the translated fields
- Submit the product for review (if approval workflows are enabled)
- Publish the translation
MerchPIM then syncs the translated content directly to Shopify’s native translation system.
The localized product content will appear automatically on the corresponding storefront language.
